Surgery is done.

Hello. We just got word that the surgery is complete. They have taken her off the bypass machine so that means that her heart is pumping her own blood. She is still on the ventilator so her lungs are not doing the breathing. She should be on that for at least a few more days. Her chest is still open and will stay open for a few days. They will sew a patch in to her chest in the mean time. The reason they do this is because there will be a lot of swelling and there would be too much pressure to close her up. They will be keeping an eye on her for about another hour and a half and then the surgeon will come out to chat with us. We should be able to see her about an hour after that.

While this is a pretty scary part there is still a lot of risk over the next few weeks. Thanks for all of your prayers, it sounds like Cali and the doctors did very well. Please keep praying for her, she still needs it.

We'll keep updating as we get more info today.

Yippee! I am so glad that her heart is beating on it's own and she came off By-pass well.
I am hoping and praying that recovery will go SMOOTH and before you know it her chest is closed and she is off the vent. That will be SWEET when she is back in your arms.
Way to go Cali, keep fighting little one.

I am so glad to hear that! We will continue prayers for her. I LOVE her middle name! :) it reminds me of one of the best girls I ever had the privledge of meeting: Koryn Keck. Was there any reference to her? Perhaps it's just a family name or a name you liked. None he less... I love it!

Jenn, her middle name is absolutely a reference to our friend Koryn. If Cali has just a little of the spirit and spunk Koryn had then she'll be fine.

You don't know me, but I know your sister, Alaina. She has an army of devoutly faithful women praying in your behalf and in honor of your sweet baby. May you and Cali be blessed with comfort and rest.
